Summative Task: Sharing the Planet: 2016
Your challenge is to identify an environmental issue, this may be big or small, and come up with an action which in some way promotes sustainability or a better way of doing things.
For example in 2009, Tim Silverwood identified marine rubbish as a issue which he felt strongly about. He began thinking about proactive ways in which the public could contribute to reducing the amount of waste entering the oceans and minimise harm to marine ecosystems. He collaborated with a group of surfers, beach-lovers and a marine biologist to form the non-profit organisation. One of their actions was to develop and share the The Take 3 initiative, which encourages people to take three pieces of rubbish when they leave the beach and to collectively make a difference.
Other examples of people identifying environmental issues and taking action can be found below.
Take time to explore your issue and look at the differing perspectives, ideas, and actions related to this issue. You will need to work through the supplied Take Action booklet and work collaboratively to meet the set deadline of Friday 13th May.
