Camp - Keeping together

Lesson 3B - Keeping Together

Commonsense Rules
When you're walking somewhere with a group there are a few rules you need to follow. Commonsense rules, such as:
  • name a leader and a tail person
  • you must always be in sight of the person in front and behind
  • if one person needs to stop everyone stops
  • if walking in lines, no passing
  • travel at the speed of the slowest person
  • keep a few paces behind the leader
  • use a buddy system to help you keep checking that everyone is there!
  • number of...1,2,3,4,5,6,7,............................

Discuss commonsense rules shown above.
Record the rules and explain the thinking behind each rule (Ask yourself, why would we do this?, for each point).

  • As a group, designate a leader & tail-end Charlie.
  • Take a walk around the school.
